Our Story

It all started with a shared passion for food.

Ahmed grew up in Egypt – his mother’s homestyle cooking set the foundation for culinary pursuits from an early age. He moved to Canada in 2016 in hopes to give his young daughter better opportunities. He also dreamed of the Nile – of home – and sharing the flavours of his country with as many people as possible.

His Partners Reza and Liton also had roots in culinary love, cooking and delighting in middle eastern cuisine for years in different distinct kitchens in Toronto. But it was only when all three met, that their combined vision for a unique middle eastern experience began to emerge.

They started to plan.

Despite their determination, time and resources were incredibly challenging, and for a long while, the restaurant felt painfully out of reach. It was only when Covid-19 struck, and all three friends found themselves suddenly out of work, that time and a perfect location in Little Italy, gave them the opportunity they needed to finally turn dream into reality.

The Nile River Restaurant in Little Italy combines authentic Egyptian home cooking recipes that were passed down from Ahmed’s mother with innovative Egyptian street-style food, creating a middle eastern blend both unique and authentic at the same time.

Welcome to The Nile Restaurant - a culinary adventure with all the comforts of home.
